Cha-ching!

Not only is tomorrow Friday... but it's PAYDAY! And "payday" takes on a whole new meaning when you only get paid ONCE A MONTH. That's right... Makes things a bit more challenging to budget, indeed (and unfortunately, budgeting is one art that I still have not quite perfected... though one has to much more, in this "cash society" of Japan!) Anyway, I am definitely glad when the last school day of the month rolls around and I get the call from the office to come down and pick up my fat envelope of cash.. no direct deposit here! (Though I personally take it straight to the bank, at which time I transfer a good chunk of it home to pay bills/loans there, pay my rent electronically, and the rest is mine for the month.) Anyway, it's a good thing payday has rolled around again because I am down to exactly what is shown here... 190 yen ($1.50) which is just about enough for the two cups of coffee I need on Friday mornings at school... from the vending machine, of course!

Ha! You certainly have a point... ALL Japanese creamer pretty much sucks. Good thing they have milk at Starbucks! In defense of Mister Donut, though, I have to say that their coffee is not too bad, especially the American "bottomless cup" idea. PLUS they play an American radio station (direct from San Fran, where Senor Donut is from, apparently). It's another one of my little havens in Japan!

I get paid on the last working day of the month here at MSU.

Ouch indeed!
